Hello everyone!
I've been using Zimbra now for some time but there is one issue that I could never resolve.
The issue is that when I connect a new Outlook client to a pre-existing mailbox (e.g. a new notebook) the messages, calendar, a.s.o are being replicated but the Outlook categories / Zimbra tags are not being replicated to the new Outlook client. In the message listing in Outlook I was able to see that message was tagged / categorized but there were no entries for categories in the configuration menu. If you marked a message where a category was previously given and then entered the configuration menu for the categories you'd see the one category with a remark "not in master category list" in brackets besides the name.
When I tried to add the category to the master list via the Outlook Category configuration tool it would retag the one category that I recreated and delete all the tags / categories on the server and all connected clients.
After some trial and error I recognized I could reproduce this with all Outlook versions 2016+, 32 and 64Bit. Outlook 2013 32Bits did synchronize everything properly, I was not able to test the 64BIt version of this release.
When I realized that 2013 works fine but 2016+ didn't I started to test a few things and read the logs, and these are my findings:
1.) %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook\RoamCache\Stream_CategoryList_*.dat is void of any category after the first synch in Outlook 2016+, in Outlook 2013 all the categories are listed correctly
2.) If I replace the contents of the empty "Stream_CategoryList_*.dat" with the contents of either a previously working one OR one from Outlook 2013 inital sync, the already existing categories function as expected.
3.) After the inital synch is completed, if a new category is being created in Outlook 2016+ the category is being replicated to the server and all ZCO-connected Outlook installations 2013 and below.
4.) After the inital synch is completed, if a new category is being created in Outlook 2013 or a tag via Zimbra Webinterface, Outlook 2013 will synchronize it correctly, Outlook 2016 will show the category on any tagged message but will mark it as "not in master category list" in the category configuration menu.
5.) The issues were reproduceable on a second Zimbra Server.
I could not find any issues in the server log regarding the tags/categories.
Anyone got an idea to solve this?
